More ponies

For Christmas this year, my father gifted me some money to spend on something for myself. Since me and my BF just bought a house, my father knows that most of our money at the moment go into the house. As I found a Breyer retailer with a serious sale on their stock, I decided to spend some of the money I got on a couple of models. 

They arrived soon after I ordered but I would say that the packing left a bit to be desired. 

They came in a black plastic bag.

Inside the bag the boxes where wrapped in 2 thin layers of bubble wrap. Fortunately, the courier service had treated my package very well as there wasn't even a dent in the boxes and all models came out with no issues.

Inside was a couple of models I've wanted for a while.

The Protocol set, I mostly wanted because I really liked the horse (but the dogs will stay as they are really nice as well). The glitter unicorns I really liked the colours of and mostly wanted because of the Alby as it's in my favourite colour and the walking TB as that is another of my favourite colours and one of my favourite stablemate molds.

The Suncatcher stablemates where mostly bought as I really wanted to try painting some clearware models and I have some really fun ideas planned for them!

Unintentional Congas

I have had this post planned for several years. I did a post about my intentional congas and had planned to make this post not too long after. Yeah, that turned out well.. or not. Anyway. My boyfriend made another shelf so that I could display more of my stablemates in my cabinets and in order to put the shelf in, all the stablemates had to go out.

I grabbed the opportunity to photograph my congas when they were all out of the cabinets. I only count the models that are actually finished (I do have a few bodies on some of the molds so technically the conga might be bigger but I won't count them until they are done).

Without further ado, here are the unintentional congas that have gathered on my shelves.

Adding to the conga

The other day 4 new models for my conga arrived at my house. 

This rose grey one is probably my favourite of the bunch. Unfortunately she's also the most flawed one with a noticeable mark on her showside. I'll probably try to touch her up as I really like her look and colour.

She has the cutest little snip too! I have yet to assign her a breed and a name but hopefully I have a few moments of my vacation to do that.

 Next up is this adorable bay tobiano who also has no name and breed yet. 

Third one is a cute palomino with no breed or name yet.

The last one is Compass. This is the hardest one for me to pin a breed on as most warmblood breeds I know of doesn't allow overo and I think she might be tough to pass of as tobiano so any suggestions are welcome.

My conga is now up to 16 horses!

Another one for the conga!

Although this time it's not a model for my Strapless conga. It's for my G3 Warmblood conga. I've been wanting this model for a while so I was quite pleased when a fellow collector here in Sweden was selling one.

This particular model is from a 4(?) piece gift set from a few years ago.

She has a really nice colour and markings. I'm happy with her and have named her Quinette D.

She does have a couple of small marks that only makes her PSQ if not touched up but I like her and think she'll do great in photos.

Grail!

Back in 2003, before I had even found the hobby, Breyer released the first model on a new mold.

I found the hobby about a year later and instantly fell in love with that model when I found her in a year old Breyer catalouge. Unfortunately the model wasn't produced anymore as she was a limited edition of 10.000 models. I had yet to find the second hand market so it took me a few years to get a hold of any models on that mold.

Breezing Shadow (Appaloosa Sport Horse Mare OF), Anything But Mine (Strapless OF), Imperia (Sidesaddle Strapless OF), Destiny (Headley Britannia OF)

I love the few models I managed to gather on the mold but in 2009 Breyer released a new model on the mold though Pottery Barn. It was a model with a loose mane and tail instead of the braided that the original mold had. She was, to me, the most beautiful of the releases to this date, she was the 2009 Pottery Barn Strapless in a gorgeous bay. 

I missed out on the release and tried to find her on the second hand market without much luck. And I have been looking for her since. She became my grail when I realized just how hard she was gonna be to get for me.

I have been searching for her ever since she was released, but the few times I've seen her offered for sale, I've either been low on money, too slow to actually buy her or she's been shelf quality only. The last 2 years I've had some luck in finding the model for sale and on three different occasions, contacted 2 different sellers inquiring about the model. At all three times we've talked and they've agreed to sell her to me, asked for my address to give me a total to pay but never gotten back to me with a total. I tried emailing them, even from different email addresses but still, never heard back. I was quite bummed by this.

Last week however I found an ebay auction of the model and emailed the seller. She would gladly ship international and provided me with extra pictures and description of the model when I asked. I didn't want to risk missing out on the auction so I went for the reasonable buy-it-now option. I payed the day after and the seller must've shipped her that same day as she arrived at the beginning of the week. Barely a week after I payed!

I'm so happy to have her in my collection and can't wait to get her out in photo- and liveshows. She will be shown as a Swedish Warmblood Mare named When I Hear Your Voice.

Growing Conga

Recently my Sm. G3 Warmblood Conga grew to more than the double!

I won an unpainted Sm. G3 Warmblood at the Swedish Nationals back in late October and not too long after I found an ad at the MHSP for several of the mold. I was kindly allowed to buy five of them to add to my collection.

At the moment most of the new ones (all but one) are still unnamed and has no breed assigned to them but I'll hopefully be able to work on that in the near future :)

Conga lines

I'm not sure of the "correct" definition of a conga line, but my definition of a conga line is a collection of at least three models on the same mold.

The only molds I actively conga is the Strapless mold and the G3 stablemate cantering warmblood mold. I am not trying to get a hold of ALL models on the Strapless or warmblood mold, only the ones that appeal to me (which generally is the solid coloured ones). I kind of also conga the G2 ASB Mare but not as actively, I mostly conga that mold when something interesting comes my way :)

At the moment I have 4 models in my Strapless conga. the appaloosa mare (she was actually bought intended to be a body but she was in such nice shape I just couldn't make myself repaint her :) ), Strapless, the Side Saddle Strapless and Headley Britannia.

In my ASB conga I have 7 models. A regular run black and white tobiano, a bay tobiano cm, a chestnut tobiano custom, an etched chestnut, a regular run chestnut, a regular run chestnut sabino and an OF bay.

Although I don't actively conga any other molds, I have managed to gather a few more conga lines. Most of them stablemates. But they are unintentional and will be shown in another post :)
