Craft Day

First of all I just want to acknowledge the fact that this is my 300th blogpost! ๐Ÿ˜„That's quite a milestone for me and it was quite the surprise realizing I had written so many as I'm not the most frequent blogger. Anyway, back to the real reason for the post! ๐Ÿ˜Š

Yesterday a couple of fellow hobbyist hosted a craft day. Since both me and my boyfriend enjoy the crafty part of the hobby, we decided to go. We had a whole lot of fun sharing tips and tricks, chatting, painting and making props and scenes. The "plan" for the day was to paint a stablemate model and for all to have a chance at trying some diorama/scene/base making.
We all managed to finish our stablemates and I really like how they all turned out! For a few it was their very first try at painting a model, some have done a few before and some have done a few more.

It wasn't the easiest task as we were hand painting with acrylics (which I for one, have never been good at) but I still think we did some cute horses. The painted horses was later ranked by all the entrants to crown the one we all liked best and honour it with a prize.

The horse in the middle and to the right are their owners first painted models.

The one on the right is my horse. I don't feel like she's up to my current painting standards but I still kind of like her. She's my first model fully painted in hand painted acrylics since somewhere around 2006-2008.

Another view
It was a tough competition and there were not too many points difference between the top three or between the fourth to seventh placings so I was very surprised when the votes were tallied and it turned out that my horse had gotten the most points! I will show you some more pictures of her at a later date.

All of us were not able to finish our scenes/dioramas/bases but some were.

My boyfriend wanted to make a key-hole jump but later realized he had forgotten some materials at home and unfortunately no one else had the materials he needed so he had to change his plan. Instead he made a base with a fence that is quite common in some parts of Sweden.

This setup was made by my boyfriend with the first horse he's ever painted. The background was borrowed from a fellow collector.
I tried to make a stall scene/diorama but unfortunately my horses took longer time to paint than I had hoped so I had less time to fix my stable.

This is how far I managed on my scene/diorama on the craft day. I brought it home in order to finish it.

This was my inspiration, a scene owned and made by a fellow collector.
As I wasn't able to finish my scene/diorama I'll continue on with it at home and I'll share updates of it as it comes along ๐Ÿ˜Š

NaMoPaiMo

When I read this post at Jennifer's blog I recognized myself in every step.

I really want to paint some models this year, I have the models, I have the supplies I want to use and I have blogs, video tutorials and reference pictures to get me going and help me on the way.

I just lack the motivation. So when I heard about NaMoPaiMo I wanted to join in on the fun! I applied for the Facebook group and it was really inspiring to see all the pictures and tips and tricks that the members share. Hopefully this will give me the inspiration I need to get at least one model finished in February (if I'm not too intimidated by all the great artist and their beautiful work ๐Ÿ˜…).

A few days ago I actually signed up to join NaMoPaiMo. The model I intend to paint for this month is my Breyer Stablemate G2 Andalusian that I remade to a be a Swedish Warmblood.

I will share all of my progress on this blog. Hopefully I'll be able to finish him by February 28th :)

Wordless Wednesday Driving Harnesses and Carriages

For those of you interested in tack (and also for personal, future, use) I took a few pictures of the tack and carriages from the driving class at Falsterbo Horse Show.

The next post will be the last of the Falsterbo Horse Show posts and will show you some pictures of the obstacles in some of the jumping classes but also the obstacles from the driving class.

Wordless Wednesday Dressage

The second post from Falsterbo Horse Show. I didn't see a whole lot of dressage as it was raining quite a lot. This year they had changed the program a bit, so instead of dressage for 6 year old horses it was pony kรผr. I only watched them in the warm-up ring as we were going back to the jumping arena.

There were a few more colours than bay and grey at the dressage arena, for example this chestnut.
Or this really golden palomino.

He had a really nice colour!

This horse was not competing at the day.
Next up will be driving!

Diorama

The Swedish Nationals Liveshow also has a performance division. It was held on the Sunday but since I wasn't entering I didn't attend the show on Sunday. It was a little sad since I really enjoy performance and dioramas but I couldn't go. But I was kind of lucky since some of the show attendees started to prepare at the end of the Saturday. I was blown away by some dioramas made by one of the entrants and I decided to dedicate this post to her work!

These are britain models (I believe it was actually a toy brand but I'm not sure) that the owner have repainted and she made the harness herself I believe.

But without further ado, here are the pictures!

I'd love to make something like this one day!

Pictures

I haven't had time to write a "proper" blogpost as I've been working, working and working some more for quite some time now. I will be working on some "real" blogposts this weekend (as it's my one and only free weekend for the entire summer)  but for today you'll have to settle for a few of my favourite pictures from this years Falsterbo Horse Show.

First, some dressage horses:

I really loved the colour on this chestnut, he wasn't competing on the day I was there but I would've loved to see him in the dressage ring.

This was another impressive horse who wasn't competing on the day I was there.

This little fella was competing at the day. This day it was the 6-year olds who competed.

There was also a show of some beautiful P.R.E.s

Look at that neck!

The P.R.E's were shown both doing dressage, jumping (I didn't get any good pictures of that unfortunately) and driving.

Of course we were watching the Falsterbo Hunting as usual so here are some pictures of the jumping course:

This 19-year old horse entered the Falsterbo Hunting for the 10th year.

He's still going strong, doing a very nice round.

Another beautiful chestnut!

And last but not least I came across a really cool chestnut in the row for the vet inspection:

Unfortunately we weren't allowed to enter the stable area so I couldn't get really good photos of him but I really liked his markings! :)

All in all it was an incredible day with great weather, a little shopping (nothing model-horsey unfortunately) and some exciting competitions. I can't wait to go next year!
