Another animal update

At the end of February I was home again, for a week, since we were about to spend a week at a Veterinary clinic of our own choice (to watch and learn from working veterinary nurses and get a better understanding of the tasks a veterinary nurse performs). I chose a small Veterinary clinic not to far from home since I like that clinic and have had contact with them before. It was an awesome week and I learnt a lot! I didn't want to leave when the week was over!

Unfortunately a week passes by extremely fast and I haven't had a whole lot of time to do much more than being at the clinic and taking care of my horse. I tried to spend as much time as I could with my animals, my family and my friends but a week is really short.

Anyway, onto my little animal update.

My sweet little Fjordhorse :)
My dear Unik is doing very well, he has lost some muscles since my mother have had a lot of problems with side-effects from her new blood preassure pills. That means that she haven't been able to exercise him (or Poppes) as much as usual. But Nike is happy and healthy and loves to go out and roll in the mud so that he gets really dirty.

Poppes and sweet little Freja in the background.
My dear Poppes is also very well. He's spirited and happy as usual. Although he wasn't entirely content with sticking to walking and a little trot instead of cantering (I like to take it very careful with the riding since he hasn't really been exercised as much as usual). He is still the king of the pasture with three mares and he loves to be in charge. Thankfully is a quite fair leader. Unfortunately I didn't get to ride him as much as I wanted to but hopefully I'll be able to ride a little more next time I go home.

Liten and Loke.
Liten was just as happy to have me home as the last time I came home. He's healthy and had a lot of fun on the weekend when his to dog friends came to visit. Loke and Devil are such quiet, sweet dogs that you barely notice (except when they take up all the space in your couch or bed...). Very easy going and it's a pleasure to borrow them from time to time so that Liten can play with them.

Svante is now neutered and he pretty much thinks that his life sucks when he has to wear an E-collar (so that he doesn't lick the wound open). As soon as you take it off he is back to his sweet, usual self. As soon as the wound has healed he will be able to go out and as well :)

Poor Svante in his favourite spot on the washing machine.
I got to spend a little time with my friends and family as well and that is always appreciated but I hope to spend a little more with them next time.

My IMEHA results for February

For the February show I didn't just enter breed shows, I also entered some mold shows. It's always exciting to see the results and this month the results were a bit different from last time. Some of the models that did good last time might have done better or worse this time.

This time I had 20 models that did not place in their halter shows or mold shows. I really need to get new pictures for them since they are good models and I think that they would have a greater chance with better pictures.

Dun To Perfection took sixth in his halter class. Fearless took sixth in his halter class (and fifth in his mold class). Lost All Hope took sixth in her headstudy class and so did Moona Fada in her halter class. Zahrat suprised me with a sixth place in her halter class.

Bluebelle took fifth in her halter class just like Sadeek did in his. Epsilon took fifth in his halter class (and second in his mold class). Looks Like A Goddess D took fifth in her halter class and fourth in her mold class. Shaniqua also took fifth in a halter class and so did Treasure in his class.

Blueberry took fourth in her halter class.

Chester VS took third in his huge headstudy class and Lady Louisa took third in her halter class. Viking also claimed third place in his class.

Ancient Gold took second in his halter class. El Shariza Eleganzaa did the same in her mold class but did not place in her halter class.

Giant Snowstorm took first in his halter class once again and Moon took first in her halter class. Question did much better this month and took first in his halter class.

Both Athame and Ayers Rock Brigadör repeated last months success, winning their respective halter classes and claiming their respective Division Reserve Championships. Athame also got second in her mold class.

Sarah and Dino

I love to collect model horses but I also love to collect other model animals, especially dogs and cats. The latest addition to my collection are not horses, but dogs :)

I bought them from a Swedish sculptor, her facebook page can be found here. The one on the left is a standing labrador female (Sarah) and the one on the right is a playing/running rottweiler male (Kandinsky Dino).

They both came with a little "COA" in their bags. And the sculptor kindly filled in the pinholes for me (that's why there are dark grey areas on the white resin). Thanks to that there is less prepping work for me to do :) I'm not an experienced prepper so I'm glad it's only sanding and smoothing out seams left to do, before priming, as that is something I've done before and knows how to do :)

The sculptor has already started sculpting puppies for Sarah and whenever they will be ready I definately want them!

Pardon the unusual way to get him to stand but I wanted to show him as he is supposed to be seen :)
Dino's pose places him in the position that he will need a base or perhaps an acrylic rod to make him stand. I haven't figured out how or what I'll do for him but I'll find a solution.

Doesn't they look pretty together? I can't wait to get a new can of primer and sealer so I can get started on painting these beauties.

I haven't decided on a colour for Sarah yet but since I plan to show her as a purebred Labrador I can make her yellow, chocolate or black. I LOVE black labradors and I'm not a huge fan of the yellow ones (they are beautiful but I just love the dark ones) so right now it leans towards black or maybe chocolate.

Dino will be a portrait of Hjalmar, our late rottweiler/labrador/mastiff male.

I'll probably give him a ball (or two) to have in his mouth (probably something like a deflated football as that is was Hjalmar usually had). He loved to play with his deflated balls and always tried to have as many in his mouth as possible.

And one last picture just to show the size in comparison to a Breyer model.

Mini Whinnies

When I was home I began documenting my collection with the tedious work of photographing every single model in my collection. I only managed to find time to photograph the animals and the Mini Whinnies this time but I hope to find time to photograph more next time I get home.

Northern Lights
I have updated the Mini Whinnie page with all my mini whinnies. I don't actively collect them and right now their future in my collection is uncertain since I think it's kind of unnecessary for them to be on my shelf when they could be with someone who appreciates them.

Bonita
I had thoughts about selling them and I haven't quite abandoned that thoughts but since I found these I was very inspired and thought about try making some to use in a scene of some kind. So whether they'll stay or go, only the future can tell.

Morning Jazz
And of course, if I decide to try and make them myself, I'll share pictures here :)
